I remember Clifton Utley from his contributions to the Camel News Caravan and the Garroway Today show. Also recall the exit sign on the Garden State Parkway that says “Clifton/Nutley.” Sounds the same. Garrick had to read my writing on occasion for NBC News in the 1990s. I think my funniest Garrick Utley story comes from Don Snyder, the overnight news producer of the Today show. He says NBC got a letter from a woman in Brooklyn praising Garrick’s work. At least they thought it did. The woman apparently thought his name was “Gary Gottlieb,” and went on at length about what a great reporter Gary Gottlieb was!
