Mike was by far the endurance champion among WNEW news directors. He came to the Big W just as I was preparing to leave Metromedia, and we spent many a morning after our drive-time shifts, his on 1130 and mine on FM, solving the world’s problems in his office at 655 Third. He had a marvelous voice and a gentle good nature to use it with. And so many extra talents — music and trains and more. His was a wonderful life we wish could have gone on forever here on earth.
