About
The World's Greatest
Radio Station

WNEW-AM, in 1992, played it's last Sinatra song and disappeared into the bogs and mists of radio history, mourned and admired still as the standard against which broadcasters striving for excellence were once judged.

Those of us whose voices and careers WNEW amplified and advanced, and who hope to be credited with having made some contribution to its reputation may be suspected, reasonably, of overstating the station's importance and status. But, allowing for self-pride and reverie, we nevertheless do insist that the slogan praising WNEW as "the world's greatest radio station," represented objective truth-in-advertising.

We intend to use this space to create a WNEW history, tell some stories, publish some pictures and collect the bits and pieces of a shattered past that turn up in a Google search. We don't know to how many people this effort matters, but that it matters to some is reason enough.
